Frequently Asked Questions About the Wizard

What is the Wizard?
The Wizard is a software package designed for Unitarian Universalist congregational websites. The Wizard was built by configuring Drupal, a free and open-source content management system, so that it meets the needs of UU congregations.
How does it work?
The Wizard is set-up so that once it is installed, you can login and start creating sermon archives, RE class lists, calendar events, staff profiles and other content for your church website.
How much does the Wizard cost?
It's free!
Free?
Yes. The Wizard is available for free download and use by the general public, including interested congregations. We developed the Wizard because we want to improve the way Unitarian Universalist congregations communicate online and we realized that some congregations need a low-cost alternative to custom web development.
What designs are available for the Wizard?
The default design theme for the Wizard is Garland, a classic design whose color scheme can be easily adjusted by the site administrator. Because the Wizard is based on Drupal, you can choose from a large collection of free Drupal themes. Custom designs can also be incorporated into the Wizard, by developing a new Drupal theme.
What if we need to make changes to the Wizard?
Welcoming Websites is available to provide add-on services to Unitarian Universalist congregations using the Wizard, including design customization and new functionality.
